I am directed by the Marquess of Lansdowne to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 6th instant, 18585/1901, on the subject of a regulation formerly in force in the Colony of Hong Kong which permitted under certain circumstances persons suffering from bubonic plague to leave the Colony.

I am to state that His Lordship concurs in the opinion of Mr Secretary Chamberlain that such removals should be absolutely prohibited.
